As you may already know POP magazine will be back- hopefully BIGGER and BETTER!! In addition to its reissue in September, FACTORY311 [a photographic, fashion and arts agency based in London] have created a website. The website is a somewhat reminder of the magazine and I was lucky enough to write up an abstract:I’m alone, deserted: physically, emotionally and spiritually. The dreary and lethargic aspects of reality are crawling back and infecting my life like a disease. Everything’s a f**king mess! Now, in reality I’m raw and scarred; I’m anxious and shaking to the knees from withdrawal symptoms as I lie restless in a shielding position. My arms and hands clinched around my body like a distressed blanket. The bad fairy, uninvited whispers: “I want my fix; that petite drop of POP will compel you to enter the realms of magical transformation”. I imagine myself in the midst of passively stepping into this exterior world; my eyes glaze over the fluoro images; I inhale that fresh-printed smell from the pages - suddenly I’m awakened by my senses: I’m hallucinating, in a state of oblivion but perceptive to everything passionately fashionable. Everything is bountiful: colourful, inspirational and for once I feel truly alive. This is nirvana; my utopia. But the orgasmic buzz comes after you put your mag down: information and ideas collates inside your head- the articles; the crazy styling fits together with prior issues and you just go wild; I want to scream and expell my excess energy. Yet, all I have is these beautifully revived memories and dreams.
